چکیده
the presence of Campylobacter dna was studied by means of Pcr in fecal samples from 37 dogs suffering from acute or chronic diarrhea and 50 dogs without clinical signs. in total, 47% of the fecal samples were positive for Campylobacter dna, with C. upsaliensis being the predominant species, followed by C. coli, C. jejuni and C. mucosalis. C. helveticus, C. lari, C. hyointestinalis, C. sputorum, C. fetus and C. lanienae DNA was not detected in any of the samples. No significant difference was noted between the healthy dogs and the diarrheic dogs. Dogs younger than 12 months old were significantly more often infected with Campylobacter species than older dogs. although a pathogenic role cannot be excluded, the detection of these organisms in fecal samples is not diagnostic for Campylobacter-associated disease in dogs. however, because of their frequent presence in dog feces, Campylobacter species may constitute a public health

Comparison of PCR and Culture Methods for Diagnosis of Enteropathogenic Campylobacter in Fowl Feces
Enteritis due to Campylobacter is the most common cause of acute bacterial diarrhea worldwide. In most cases, infection occurs as a result of consuming contaminated water or food, especially raw meat of fowls. Campylobacters are saccharolytic and fastidious bacteria. These traits limit the number of available biochemical tests by which isolates may be differentiated. These limitations might, in...

Campylobacter species are important organisms in both human and animal health. The identification of Campylobacter currently requires the growth of organisms from complex samples and biochemical identification. In many cases, the condition of the sample being tested and/or the fastidious nature of many Campylobacter species has limited the detection of campylobacters in a laboratory setting. To...
متن کاملUse of culture, PCR analysis, and DNA microarrays for detection of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli from chicken feces.
A DNA microarray for detection of Campylobacter spp. was recently developed and applied to detect Campylobacter spp. directly from chicken feces. Sixty-five pooled chicken cloacal swab samples from 650 individual broiler chickens were included in the study. The results of Campylobacter sp. detection obtained with DNA microarrays were compared to those obtained by conventional culture and gel el...

BACKGROUND: Campylobacteriosis is one of the most commonbacterial intestinal disorders of humans in many countries.A wide range of domestic and wild bird species have been identifiedas natural reservoirs. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this studywas to determine the Campylobacter spp from pet birds andscreen the determined Campylobacters for presence of virulencecytolethal distending toxin (cdt) genes....
متن کاملUse of PCR for direct detection of Campylobacter species in bovine feces.
This study reports on the use of PCR to directly detect and distinguish Campylobacter species in bovine feces without enrichment. Inhibitors present in feces are a major obstacle to using PCR to detect microorganisms. The QIAamp DNA stool minikit was found to be an efficacious extraction method, as determined by the positive amplification of internal control DNA added to bovine feces before ext...
